Do you have integrity? Has anyone ever commented on your integrity? One might say that integrity is the foundation of good journalism. Good journalism seeks to give factual, unbiased, and helpful information that your audience can use to understand, clarify, and synthesize for use in their daily lives. When we talk about integrity we are talking about being ethical; we are talking about right and wrong. Because you will be reporting and sharing your reporting with your community, it is vital (and I mean SUPER important) that you understand the journalistic protocol that will help you keep your integrity, help others maintain their integrity, and, most of all, ensure you do not violate the law (it can be illegal to print some things or to claim that certain statements are true when they actually are false).
For this assignment module, you will research and explain what Journalistic Integrity means. Below are some links to sites that discuss journalistic integrity. You will be responsible for completing a blog post that shows your knowledge of this term in depth. Use the sources below as well as the print sources available to you to complete a blog post that details your understanding of journalistic integrity.

- A definition in your own words
- Introduction: Explain the key elements of journalistic integrity. Remember to tell where your information came from. You are not yet an expert, so please include references to experts.
- Give an example of journalistic integrity or the lack thereof. Explain how the example shows the concept of Journalistic Integrity. You may include a picture to help satisfy the 3 picture requirement.
- Synthesis: Explain why this concept is important to this class and how you will apply your knowledge of this concept to your future work in our class.

On the first day, I didn't know anything about journalism, journalism integrity, or the ethics. But, then I learned all the definitions of journalism, integrity, and ethics. I didn't understand at first but then I researched it a little bit more and ubnderstood. What I still need to know is practice.

Before this class I never really thought about journalism at all. Now that I am in this class, i know pretty much all about journaistic integrity now that i researched it. I learned to not lie about what is true just because I don't like it. I still need to understand what it's like to have journaistic integrity because I've only posted once and i still have much more to learn.

When we first started the class I knew what journalism was and what integrity was, but i had never put the two together. As we continued on with the class i started to get a true understands of the morals and ethics good journalists must have. Now i just need to enfore it in my writing, and practice!

At first, I didn't know what journalism integrity,journalism, and ethics meant. It was hard for me in the beginning, but once I started to do some research on eithics and journalism integrity, I understood. That helped me understand more and was easier for me to write my paragraphs. However, I still need to have more practice and learn more.

This paper was a great experience for me to learn how to be a journalist. I learned that to be a journalist you have to speak the truth and you cant lie about people. I also learned that you have to show integrety which means you must be proud of your work and cannot tell lies.

What I learned about integrity is that you have to show fairness and speak the truth. An example of journalism integrity is that you can't state your opinion you have to state the honest and truthful information. In conclusion you should always speak the honest truth.

The first thing I heard when I came into this class was Journalistic Integrity. I had no clue what it meant. When I finished the task, I can honestly say I have somewhat of an understanding. I learned that to be a true journalist, you must be honest and to have sources that can show your point is true or not.

ReplyDeleteBefore learning about journalistic integrity, I knew that having integrity meant that you're honest, but didn't exactly understand journalistic integrity. After learning about journalistic integrity, I learned that it's very important to apply and use journalistic integrity so you're not bias towards one side of the story and being sure to state both sides of the story. I also learned that you can't state your own opinion, so you can't use any words in first person. An example of journalistic integrity is when journalist write true facts, give important information, and not write their own opinions.

Previous from learning about journalistic integrity, I had a general understanding of what integrity meant which was being honest and doing the right thing even when no one is looking. Before learning about journalistic integrity, I had only a vague idea of what integrity is. Now I know that integrity is taking pride in the honesty, accuracy,work ethic, and non harmfulness of what you're doing specifically for this, in your writing. This is important for journalism since you need to be unbiased so the public can trust you.

ReplyDeleteI did not know about integrity until I did this assignment. I learned that integrity is to be honest/truthful or doing the right thing. We will use integrity in journalism when we are synthesizing our ideas and changing them in a way that is the truth and not lies.
